Did you know?

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) was a Czech-born German-language writer whose surreal fiction vividly expressed the anxiety, alienation, and powerlessness of the individual in the 20th century. Kafka's work was characterized by nightmarish settings in which characters were crushed by nonsensical, blind authority. Thus, the word "Kafkaesque" is often applied to bizarre and impersonal administrative situations where the individual feels powerless to understand or control what is happening. The first recorded appearance of "Kafkaesque" in English was in 1946.

my country is well known as a "nanny state"...

oh! wat better word to explain our plight... "Kafkaesque". i hate it.... authority was never meant to be used as a grip over others... power in authority was meant to serve.

unfortunately most use this power to serve money or feel good abt themselves. wat is the world comming to?! frm lecturers handing out twisted project requirements (wasnt design part expression of the authors taste and pref?) to the govt enforcing national service (what gives the entitlement to two and a half yrs off our youth?).

i used to think the U.S. making such a big fuss over human liberation as a large egoistic hullabaloo... now i see their point.

everyone shld be given the Liberty to choose for themselves the path they wish to take in life. there should be allowence for peeps to make the right or wrong choices, and live wif the consequences of those choices. ild gladly die bcos of a mistake i made, then to live under constant authoritative direction.

the word here is - too much!authority isnt balanced out!
